Test Name
Allergy Testing – Environmental/Inhalants
Specimen Type & Acceptability
Serum
7 days refrigerated.
General Use
Each allergen will be rated on a class scale: normal reactivity to high reactivity. A higher than normal reactivity level can mean that there’s a possibility that certain allergens can be giving you symptoms. Symptoms to allergens can vary from serious life-threatening reactions to general discomfort involve skin, gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system and respiratory tract. This assay is ideal for determining if you have certain allergies. Once an allergy is determined, and depending on the scale of reactivity, you should make an appointment with your physician to investigate further. Even though increasing ranges are reflective of increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE, these concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with a specific allergen. The correlation of allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential. A negative test may not rule out clinical sensitivity or even anaphylaxis.
Special Instructions
Let clot for 10-20 minutes. After the sample is fully clotted, centrifuge the sample. Verify complete separation of cells and serum and refrigerate.
