7 days refrigerated.
(CO2 is only acceptable for 5 days if it is in an unopened, refrigerated SST)

General Use

Screening test used to evaluate patient organ function and check for metabolism, kidney function, liver disease, blood glucose level, electrolytes & acid-base balance. This test is a valuable tool for monitoring certain conditions, such as, but no limited to, hypertension, kidney and liver medication side effects.

Special Instructions

Let clot for 10-20 minutes.
After the sample is fully clotted, centrifuge the sample. Verify complete separation of cells and serum. DO NOT OPEN TUBE. Protect from light and refrigerate. If a fasting sample is required, the patient should fast for 12 hours preceding collection of serum specimen.
